A Summary of the Symposium and General Assembly Held on September 4-5, 2024

On September 4th, the PFAStwin project marked its second anniversary with a highly successful symposium, "Two Years of PFAStwin Project: Achievements and Perspectives." The event opened with an inspiring ceremony led by Dragana Milic, during which Ljubica Bacetić shared exciting news about the "Internal PFAStwin Grassroots Research Initiative: Inspiring Curiosity, Fostering Leadership (PFAStwin GRI)."

This initiative offers grants for young researchers, encouraging leadership in scientific research. Four grantees—Slađana Savić, Maja Krstić Ristivojević, Katarina Smiljanić, and Miloš Pešić—presented their upcoming projects through dynamic flash presentations. Ivan Đuričković, representing the Ministry of Environmental Protection of Serbia, delivered an insightful talk on the role of the National Focal Point for the Stockholm Convention in Serbia, adding a valuable policy perspective to the discussions.

Following a break, Maria Salinas Fernandez captivated the audience with her presentation on "Project Management Excellence: Lessons from CSIC." Her insights energized participants and emphasized the importance of strategic collaboration in achieving the project's goals. The event's second day, September 5th, featured the PFAStwin General Assembly. Prof. Dr. Vladimir Beškoski, the project coordinator, provided a comprehensive overview of the project's second-year progress, focusing on Work Package 6 (WP6). This was followed by a series of presentations that covered different workpackages: Prof. Dr. Ljubodrag Vujisić spoke about WP2, Dr. Marija Lješević discussed WP3, Tatjana Božić highlighted WP4, and Prof. Dr. Maja Gruden-Pavlović provided updates on WP5.

After a lunch break, Dr. Begoña Jimenez and Dr. Juan Munoz-Arnanz from CSIC presented the exciting activities planned for the project's third year. The day concluded with presentations by Dr. Fabienne Battaglia and Dr. Marc Crampon, who shared BRGM's plans. A lively discussion followed, setting the stage for the next steps in the PFAStwin project. Over these two days, participants celebrated the project's achievements while looking forward to the innovative research and collaboration that lie ahead.
